From September to November 2015, FedEx team members in 4 countries in the Middle East and India have contributed to nearly 6,230 volunteer hours to mark the 11th annual FedEx Cares giving campaign.

2,016 FedEx team members in the Middle East and India have joined a total of 10,000 team members all around the world who contributed nearly 55,000 volunteer hours by participating in a range of community initiatives to show how much FedEx cares, and help make a difference in the lives of others.

This initiative is part of a tradition begun by FedEx in 2005 that has since expanded to nearly 500 global communities in which its team members live and work. The company’s annual giving campaign provides support in the form of money and muscle to hundreds of non-profit organizations.

This year’s FedEx Cares projects in the Middle East included:

  • Small hands. Big Hearts Campaign
Assisting children with special needs in Dubai at Al Noor Training Center, for an entire school day and raising funds through purchasing the children’s handmade items available at their local store ‘Smiles N Stuff’
  • Clean-Up UAE Campaign
Cleaning Nad Al Sheba area in Dubai by removing waste that affects the environment. Participation funds were used to help in recycling the waste gathered in collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group.
  • Blood is for Circulation Campaign
Donating blood to Sheikh Khalifa Medical Center for Blood Donation in Abu Dhabi
  • Keep Them Warm Campaign
Donating, sorting and distributing winter clothes to unprivileged workers who work on site during very low temperatures in Kuwait.
  • Walk for Life Campaign
Raising diabetes awareness through a walkathon in Bahrain, where all participations helped in funding insulin pumps for children with diabetes.

In addition to thousands of volunteer hours donated each year, FedEx and its team members also gave more than $12 million to a variety of local non-profit organizations in 2014.

“Team members are passionate about making a difference and the FedEx Cares campaign gives them the opportunity to do so by volunteering in a range of locally organized initiatives”, said David Ross, regional president, FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. “This year, we recorded 2,016 FedEx volunteers contributing 6,230 hours of their time across the various programs in the region. We will continue to remain committed towards serving communities by encouraging active participation from team members in the next FedEx Cares program”
