Australia & New Zealand Closer Economic Relations Trade Agreement
As of 1983, eligible goods of New Zealand origin could enter Australia at preferential duty rates under the Australia-New Zealand Closer Economic Relations Trade Agreement (ANZCERTA).
However, effective Oct 2005, importers with eligible shipments will need to provide FedEx with the preference rule type that qualifies their imports to claim New Zealand preference- namely P50, URP, WMD or WMN prior to the shipment arrival. The criteria required to meet these rules are as follows:
- P50 = Minimum New Zealand content is 50% of the total factory cost.
- URP = Goods are unmanufactured raw products of New Zealand.
- WMD = Wholly manufactured goods with determined manufactured raw materials*.
- WMN = Wholly manufactured goods with no determined manufactured raw materials.
*To find out the definitions of what are the "determined manufactured goods", reference can be made to the following web address http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/origin5.pdf
To facilitate customs clearance, please provide written confirmation that New Zealand preference applies to your imports including the relevant rule type and fax to FedEx Customs Department on (02) 9565 0332 or mail to the following address:
