Worldwide Customs & Regulatory Updates
December 28, 2005 Australia Duty/Tax Direct Debit Payment method
For maximum efficiency and convenience in processing payment of duties and taxes for your imported shipments, you can now choose a payment option which is known as "Direct Debit duty/tax payment" directly with Australian Customs. Instead of reimbursing FedEx for payments advanced by FedEx on your behalf upon delivery, you can elect to settle with Australian Customs directly.
Direct Debit duty/tax Payment means that you open a Direct Debit duty/tax Account with Australian Customs. All customs duty, goods and services tax, wine equalization tax, luxury car tax and other charges and fees payable in respect of imported goods will be paid on clearance by FedEx from your nominated bank account directly to Australian Customs. All shipments will be released upon payment and be delivered without delay.
To apply for Direct Debit duty/tax Payment, please contact the FedEx Reimbursement of Duty (R.O.D) Team who will lodge your request with the Australian Customs on your behalf.
For any inquiry, please call the R.O.D Team on 1800 111 112 (Eastern Standard Time Mon- Fri from 9am to 5pm).
