Worldwide Customs & Regulatory Updates
November 8, 2006 Updates on prohibited Christmas items imported into Australia
This festive season, please inform your shipper not to include any of the following items in any gift hampers being sent to Australia.
These are:
- Pine cones
- Wooden ornaments that are manufactured from plant material
- Fresh fruits
- Item of meat origin or containing meat (all types: e.g. beef jerky etc)
- Items containing egg or dairy
- Items of plant origin (e.g. Decorations made from vine material, wreaths, flowers, pot-pourri etc
- Unpopped popcorn
- Nuts
These commodities are prohibited. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) will require from you written permission to destroy the above commodities at Customs, prior to releasing the remaining consignment, thereby delaying delivery.
