Australia Duty/Tax Direct Debit Payment Method

There is now an easier and more cost effective method of paying any duty and taxes applied to your Australian-imported shipments; the Australian Government\'s Direct Debit Duty/Tax Payment option.

Direct Debit Duty/Tax Payment is an Australian Customs Service payment scheme which allows you to open an account direct with Australian Customs. Whenever you import a shipment to Australia, Australian Customs will automatically debit any duty and/or taxes directly from your nominated bank account.

You will notice a smoother clearance process* and will no longer be charged the 2% account advancement fee from FedEx**. What\'s more, the Direct Debit Duty/Tax Payment service can be used to pay duties and taxes for shipments imported with other transportation carriers, too - not just those imported via FedEx.

To apply for a Direct Debit Duty/Tax Payment account, simply complete and mail the attached two application forms to the FedEx Clearance Department at:

Attention: D/T Direct Debit Team
Gateway Administration Department
FedEx Express
PO Box 656
Mascot NSW 1460

FedEx will then submit the forms to the Australian Customs Service on your behalf.

*Subject to Australian Customs clearance. Clearance delays caused by regulatory agencies are beyond the control of FedEx. Please refer to the FedEx Standard Conditions of Carriage (South Pacific) for more information.

**In the event that duties and taxes on any given shipment exceed AU$300, FedEx Express advances such duties and taxes on behalf of an account payor. A FedEx administrative charge in the amount of 2% of the total amount advanced is then billed to the payor. FedEx will not apply this administrative charge to customers that pay their duty and taxes using the Direct Debit Duty/Tax Payment service.
