Printable Version FedEx donates full cargo and logistical support for delivery of urgent disaster relief to Sichuan Province in China

FedEx Express delivered 31 tonnes of urgently needed supplies to Sichuan Province for the provision of immediate relief aid to earthquake survivors. The relief shipment was conducted in association with STAR, the leading media and entertainment company in Asia.

Included in the consignment were surgical masks, cup noodles, water, health drinks, ten thousand tents, sleeping bags, surgical masks, mats and blankets, all of which were donated by STAR’s major advertisers in the region including Nissin Foods, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Hong Kong and Continental Supplies.

FedEx Express organised consolidation services in Hong Kong for the goods sourced by STAR’s offices in Hong Kong, Taipei and Guangzhou, and also provided full cargo transport and logistical support including delivery to the Sichuan Provincial Civil Affairs Department in Chengdu and onward land transport support.

Key FedEx Express officers and employees worked closely together with STAR executives and senior officials on the ground in Chengdu in order to ensure the efficient organisation and delivery of the relief supplies to those affected by the earthquake in the shortest possible time.

FedEx Express has a long history of providing emergency logistical and in-kind services in support of communities affected by natural disasters throughout the world.  Recent similar initiatives include the provision of funds and delivery services in Chengdu Province (in association with the Heart to Heart organisation and the China Red Cross) and in Myanmar.
