Printable Version FedEx European Companies Continue to be Granted Important AEO Status
FedEx has already successfully obtained Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificates in 20 EU countries and continues to pursue applications in seven more countries.
AEO status gives companies access to simplified customs procedures based on their detailed and proven understanding of the way in which more stringent security regulations should be implemented and monitored. Because AEO certified companies are approved as trusted partners by customs authorities they benefit from:
- Fewer physical and document-based controls;
- Priority treatment regarding safety and security controls;
- A reduction in the amount of data needed for safety and security screening;
- Official notifications of required entry controls prior to shipments arriving at EU border points.
AEO status granted by one EU state is automatically recognised by all other member states. Mutual recognition programmes initiated with other countries such as the US, China and Japan will allow the scheme’s benefits to ultimately become global.
FedEx currently holds AEO certificates for the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Full details of all valid AEO certificates can be verified via the Online database pages for economic operators who have given agreement to the publication of their details.
