We’ve Gained Important AEO Status for More Countries

We’ve now obtained Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificates in 21 EU countries and continue to pursue applications in another 7 countries.

AEO status gives companies access to simplified customs procedures based on their detailed and proven understanding of the way in which more stringent security regulations are implemented and monitored.

Key advantages include the following:

  • Fewer physical and document-based controls;
  • Priority treatment regarding safety and security controls;
  • A reduction in the amount of data needed for safety and security screening;
  • Official notifications of required entry controls prior to shipments arriving at EU border points.

AEO status granted by one EU state is automatically recognised by all other member states, and mutual recognition in other countries such as the US, China and Japan will eventually lead to the scheme’s benefits becoming global.

FedEx currently holds AEO certificates for the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

You can find full details of valid AEO certificates via the online database pages for all those economic operators who have given agreement to the publication of their details.
