FedEx Appoints New Managing Director for
Australia and New Zealand

SYDNEY, May 8 2002 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest air express transportation company, has announced the appointment of Harry West as the new Managing Director of FedEx Australia and New Zealand.

West has 20 years of experience with FedEx, spanning the United States and Japan, and says his primary goal is to help more Australian and New Zealand businesses reap the benefits of air-express transportation in today's global economy.

"FedEx has an enormous role to play as a facilitator of global trade for businesses and industries in Australia and New Zealand," says West.

"Although located in the industry's Asian region where it is an aggressive exporter, Australia and New Zealand have extremely strong trade and cultural ties with both Europe and the US, and part of my role will be to foster and support these unique relationships.

"Our five weekly flights to Sydney connect our customers to the FedEx AsiaOne Network of overnight delivery, and provide fast connection to Europe, the United States and South America.

"A key part of our strategy for growth in Australia and New Zealand is the ongoing use of information technology that enables FedEx to provide an ever-increasing array of services for our customers."

West first joined FedEx in 1983. Since then he has performed a variety of roles within the company in the United States, Japan and now Australia and New Zealand. Before his current appointment in Australia, West spent eight years in Japan as Managing Director of Eastern Japan/Guam and then Managing Director of East and West Japan.

With annual revenues of $20 billion, FedEx Corp. is the premier global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply chain management services. The company offers integrated business solutions through a network of subsidiaries operating independently, including: FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company; FedEx Ground, North America's second largest provider of small-package ground delivery service; FedEx Freight, the largest U.S. provider of regional less-than-truckload freight services; FedEx Custom Critical, the world's largest provider of expedited time-critical shipments; and FedEx Trade Networks, a provider of customs clearance, international freight forwarding and trade facilitation.
