FedEx Delivers Singaporeans' Support to Team Singapore Athletes in Athens

FedEx partners with Temasek Design School and T-Net Club to create and deliver banners with messages of encouragement

Singapore, August 6, 2004 - FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company has partnered with Temasek Design School and the People's Association T-Net Club to design and hand-paint six banners, each representing a sports discipline of our Olympic athletes.

As symbols of Singapore's support for our local athletes, the banners will boost the athletes' morale, encouraging them to go "above and beyond" to deliver excellent performances. FedEx will deliver the banners to Ms Annabel Pennefather, Chef de Mission for Singapore Contingent of the XXVIII Olympic Games 2004.

"We are proud to support Team Singapore with the FedEx global air network, and we are certainly pleased to play a part in helping them realise their dreams. FedEx has a strong tradition in Singapore of providing support and assistance that reflects the company's philanthropic philosophy, directed at four strategic areas of need: artistic and cultural, educational, the environment and civic and humanitarian well being." said Peter Yin, Regional Vice President, FedEx South Pacific.

"Team Singapore would like to express our thanks to FedEx, students and staff from Temasek Design School and the T-Net Club for their support of our Team Singapore athletes. Seeing the banners and support from Singaporeans will certainly motivate our athletes to rise and meet the challenges of the competition," commented Kelvin Chua, General Manager, Team Singapore.

"We are excited to be part of this project as it allows our teens to showcase their creativity, learn about teamwork and demonstrate their support for our local athletics in a tangible way," said Tang Tung San, Head of TeenActs Team, T-Net Club.

"Temasek Polytechnic is proud to be part of this exciting community project. This is an excellent opportunity for our young designers to express their support for our Olympians in Athens. The students' creation of the six banners symbolises each sport that our athletes are participating in. When these banners come together as a whole mural, the artwork signifies the unity of a nation behind the fortitude of its athletes," said Moses Wong, Director, Temasek Design School.

The banners will be delivered to Athens on 10 August, students from Temasek Design School and the People's Association T-Net Club can track the shipment via the FedEx website .
