Shipping Tips

How do I get started?

Visit the Information Centre and click on How to Ship for a detailed overview on how to ship with FedEx.

How can I find out how much it will cost to ship my packages without actually going to a FedEx shipping location?

FedEx has made it easy to obtain shipping rates via the FedEx Rate Finder. You simply provide the package's destination, postal/zip code and weight and select a delivery option. You will instantly receive a courtesy rate quote.

How can I find a FedEx shipping location?

There are several ways for customers to find any of the 50,000 FedEx drop-off locations, over 1,200 FedEx World Service Centers® and 5,000 FedEx Authorized ShipCenters® worldwide. Visit fedex.ca and click on the Locations tab to access this feature. There you will find FedEx shipping locations in your area along with a map and latest drop-off times.

What is the difference between FedEx Express and FedEx Ground?

FedEx Ground is a cost-effective solution for less urgent shipments that don't require overnight speed.
FedEx Express lets you choose from several different services so you can pick the delivery time that fits your degree of urgency. It's for shippers with high-value or time-critical shipments who need fast delivery on a specific day, by a specific time.

Do I have to use FedEx Express boxes to ship packages?

No. You can use your own packaging materials. However, FedEx Express recommends using its shipping materials, which are available at no extra charge. These materials have been designed to withstand extreme conditions. Please click here for information on FedEx packaging and shipping tips. Assistance is also available at our conveniently located FedEx World Service Centers® and over 400 FedEx Authorized ShipCenter® locations across the country. FedEx Ground, like all other ground parcel carriers, depends on shippers to tender their packages packed and ready for shipment. This is because items and products being shipped vary greatly in size and weight, making ground shipping an economical choice. Please note that FedEx Express packaging cannot be used to ship FedEx Ground packages.

Where can I get FedEx materials to ship packages?

In addition to ordering FedEx Express supplies online, customers may also visit any of our FedEx World Service Centers® or FedEx Authorized ShipCenters® to obtains supplies, at no extra charge. For the nearest locations, customers can visit fedex.ca and click on the Locations tab or call 1.800.GoFedEx.

Once a package is sent via FedEx, can I monitor the delivery status?

You can visit fedex.ca to track up to 30 FedEx packages. FedEx will then supply up-to-the minute information about delivery status and location of any package in our delivery network. You can also obtain package status by calling 1.800.GoFedEx, or; ship online using FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.ca™, login to my fedex for automatic status information; or by visiting mobile.fedex.com on your web enabled wireless device such as a WAP phone, RIM pager or a Personal Digital Assistant.

What if the recipient of a FedEx Express package is not home when the package arrives?

If a package cannot be delivered on the initial delivery attempt, we will either reattempt delivery, and/or hold the shipment at our facility and an attempt may be made to notify the recipient to establish further instructions. Re-delivery service will be provided at no extra charge. A notice of attempted delivery will be left at the recipient's address after each attempted delivery. Alternatively, in certain circumstances, the shipper can sign the "Sign to Authorize Delivery Without a Signature" option on the air waybill, which authorizes FedEx to leave the package without obtaining a signature. Some restrictions apply. See the terms and conditions section of the FedEx Service Guide for details.

What about the Money-Back Guarantee? Does it still apply during the holiday season?

FedEx Express Canada will honour the Money-Back Guarantee during the holiday shipping season.
Some restrictions apply. See the terms and conditions in the FedEx Service Guide for details.

What if a customer package is damaged or lost?
