FedEx introduces new bilingual international air waybills

Redesigned air waybills offer faster & more convenient express services

Taipei, May 20, 1999 -- Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, today introduced a new bilingual English-Chinese international air waybill. This air waybill is more user-friendly for Taiwanese shippers and will surely set another service benchmark for the international express industry in Taiwan.

"We are pleased to be the first in the industry to introduce an international air waybill featuring Chinese. This exemplifies again FedEx's relentless efforts to meet and surpass customer expectations and will definitely help set the standard for international express companies in Taiwan," said Jimmy Chen, managing director of FedEx Taiwan.

Following a thorough study of shipper needs concerning air waybills, including more than 10 focus groups around the world in addition to global quantitative research, FedEx has launched the new state-of-the-industry international air waybills which will allow shippers to fill out the copy with more ease and less time, and therefore, enhance their efficiency.

"We have conducted focus group studies in Taiwan to better understand Taiwanese shippers' needs. The findings are the cornerstone for this new air waybill version. This move further demonstrates FedEx commitment to its Taiwan customers," added Chen.

The re-designed air waybills feature the following benefits to shippers, among others:

  • Easier-to-use international air waybill
    • Concise English and Chinese completion instructions
    • A detailed Chinese description of delivery terms and conditions at the back of the sender copy, i.e. the first ply, of the air waybill
    • Cleaner layout
  • More logical information flow conducive to faster fill-in
  • More legible copy for sender's records by providing the sender with the first ply of the air waybill
