Press Releases
SINGAPORE, August 14, 2000 - Federal Express (FedEx), the
world's largest express transportation company, has invested
in a new fleet of fifteen Mercedes Benz walk-through vans
as part of efforts to enhance its services to local customers.
FedEx is the first in the industry to purchase the MB313
models, which will be used for FedEx's pickup and delivery
operations around Singapore.
Receiving the delivery of the vans recently, Mr. Peter Yin,
FedEx's Regional Vice President, South Pacific said, "This
additional fleet of vans will enable us to provide customers
with more efficient services. In addition to being able to
accommodate the increasing demand for our services around
the island, we will also be able to carry heavyweights more
reliably," said Mr. Yin.
"We expect to see higher productivity among our couriers
and greater efficiency of work processes with these vans.
The size of the vans allow a courier to stand upright in
the van, which means that the courier will be able to carry
heavyweights and other packages easily, without risking injuring
their backs. The vans are also fitted with shelves to facilitate
better organization of shipments."
FedEx has signed a worldwide contract with Mercedes Benz
to provide these vans to its worldwide offices. In Singapore,
70 percent of FedEx's fleet will eventually be replaced with
the new Mercedes Benz vans.
