FedEx Licensee Opens Gateway Center at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport

Jakarta, 15 September 1999 - P.T. Repex Perdana International, Federal Express (FedEx) sole licensee in Indonesia, today announced the opening of its new Gateway Center at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Designed to support faster processing of inbound and outbound shipments, the Gateway Center has a floor area of 1,411 square meters and is intended to facilitate the use of efficient clearance processes and sophisticated information technology.

David L. Cunningham, FedEx Regional Vice President, South Pacific, said, "This new gateway center enables FedEx, through PT Repex Perdana International - its licensee in Indonesia, to provide an even more efficient service to Indonesian customers. This center is a manifestation of our confidence in this market as we continue to find ways to elevate our services to a higher level of sophistication and service reliability."

The Gateway Center is also designed to support Customs officials with the pre-clearance process by using an Electronic Data Interface (EDI) system. Customs officials, with their own office at the Gateway Center, will receive the manifest information of all the shipments and be able to start processing clearance before the FedEx Airbus 310 actually lands in Jakarta each business day. This EDI system greatly enhances customs processing time.

With the opening of the Gateway Center, PT Repex Perdana International becomes the only company in Indonesia to own a dedicated shipment processing and warehouse facility at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Harsha E. Joesoef, President Director of PT Repex Perdana International, said "The Gateway Center is dedicated exclusively to handling FedEx customers' inbound and outbound shipments. This enables FedEx to retain custodial control of customers' shipments throughout the entire process resulting in enhanced speed and reliability."

Through its licensee, FedEx has more than 360 people supporting its operations in Jakarta and five other branches across Indonesia. The company serves all major commercial centers in Indonesia. Customers can track shipments on the FedEx website at http://www.fedex.com or by dialing FedEx's customer service department at (021) 522-4636 in Jakarta.
