Press Releases
Bangkok, October 6, 1999 - Federal Express (FedEx), the world's
largest express transportation company, today announced that it
has moved to full ownership and management of operations in Thailand.
This marks a strategic new phase in the company's business development
in the IndoChina region.
"FedEx's decision to become a fully-owned operation in Thailand
reflects the strategic importance of the country as a dynamic market
and as an ideal gateway for express distribution to the neighboring
countries of Indochina," said Rhicke Jennings, FedEx managing director
for Singapore and Thailand.
"Our immediate objective is to concentrate on providing our customers
in Thailand with the best possible service that FedEx has to offer,"
he added.
As of September 1st, FedEx assumed management of all operations
in Thailand's key locations - Bangkok, Greater Bangkok, Chiang Mai,
Ayudhya and Laem Chabang. The company's former licensee, Traffic
Express International, remains FedEx's exclusive pickup and delivery
agent for other areas.
