Continued commitment to addressing local customers' needs
HONG KONG, August 5, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx),
the world's largest express transportation company, today launched
its Chinese-language web page. This web page is located on the Hong
Kong and Taiwan home pages of the company's global web site at www.fedex.com.
This latest service enhancement is a great boon for local shippers
in the two Chinese markets as they can now surf the FedEx site and
track shipments in their local language.
"The introduction of the Chinese web page is yet another initiative
that demonstrates FedEx's long-term commitment to addressing the
needs of its customers locally. The addition of this Chinese web
page strengthens our portfolio of local language technology products,"
said Jimmy Chen, Managing Director, Taiwan.
Thousands of customers in Taiwan and Hong Kong visit the FedEx
web site to find out more about FedEx's products and services, and
to track their shipments. "We believe the addition of a local language
version will make our web site even more user-friendly for these
customers. The FedEx web site is considered the most comprehensive
site for the express transportation industry, and we have achieved
enormous success in communicating electronically with our customers
and net users around the globe," added Jimmy.
One of the web page's key features is its value-added Chinese tracking
capability. With the added option of tracking in Chinese and by
entering the tracking number, FedEx customers can query and receive
package status information for up to 25 shipments simultaneously,
and forward the detailed tracking results to up to three email addresses.
"This new service enhancement is part of our continued efforts
to provide our customers with an extensive portfolio of services
that offer 'user-friendly' business solutions. We believe the new
Chinese web page will bring unparalleled benefits to our local Chinese
customers in this electronic era," Jimmy remarked.
