FedEx Launches WAP Mobile Tracking Services in Asia

HONG KONG, August 15, 2000 -- FedEx Express ("FedEx") today launched its first WAP service in the Asia Pacific region. With a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) mobile phone, users can now track FedEx packages, contact our service hotline, locate dropboxes and service center addresses, and view the latest FedEx news.

By using our new WAP service, customers can conveniently access a wealth of FedEx information in Asia, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year," said Raj Subramaniam, vice president, Electronic Commerce and Customer Service (ECCS), Marketing and Communications, FedEx Asia Pacific. "Together with our full range of eBusiness tools FedEx now offers a host of services catering to the different needs of corporations and individuals, anytime and anywhere."

Launched today in Hong Kong and Singapore, the WAP service soon will be available to FedEx's customers in Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan and China.

Earlier this month, the company bolstered its eBusiness tools portfolio and announced re-branding of its full range of e-commerce services customers in Asia. The FedEx eBusiness tools include EC-Ship, EC-Shop, EC-Inventory Visibility, and the new EC-Return Management.
