Press Releases
SINGAPORE, October 23, 2001 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's
largest air-express transportation company, has launched a bold
new advertising campaign to reinforce the company's dictum of 'We-Live-To-Deliver'.
Two television commercials tell the story of 'Sammy' and 'Chris',
two ordinary people who go to extraordinary lengths to get their
jobs done.
"Sammy and Chris embody the kind of spirit and dedication that
is really the essence of the FedEx brand," said Michael Heldebrandt,
Managing Director of Marketing, South Pacific.
"FedEx has built its reputation on going that extra mile. Our people
care as much about a customer's shipment as the customers do, maybe
more so. FedEx believes that express delivery is not only about
getting a package from point A to point B. We believe that what
is most important is building a relationship of trust with our customers
through committed reliability, and we believe these commercials
reinforce that message: that in 211 countries throughout the globe,
nobody has a more integrated network or more dedicated team of people,"
he added.
Heldebrandt said the advertisements were developed to highlight
one of the company's most fundamental management philosophies: People-Service-Profit.
"The premise is simple: we take care of our people, they will take
care of our customers and that will take care of the profit. This
profit is channeled towards our people again and the whole cycle
continues. This philosophy has helped improve the efficiency of
our operations and been a major factor in the company's success
and the fact it is the world's largest express transportation company,"
explained Heldebrandt.
Most recently, the company was named as one of the 'Best Employers
In Asia', a distinction given by The Asian Wall Street Journal,
the Far Eastern Economic Review and Hewitt Associates. FedEx was
ranked sixth in Singapore and among the top 10 in the region.
Scheduled to run throughout Asia Pacific and Europe, the new Singapore
campaign kicked off on October 22 at 7:00 p.m. on TCS 5, TCS 8 and
Channel U. It will run through to the end of November on TCS 5 and
TCS 8, and until November 1st on Channel U. In addition to the two
30-second television commercials, print and outdoor elements will
also support the campaign.
The new FedEx 'We-Live-To-Deliver' commercial was developed by
Abbott Mead Vickers - BBDO Ltd and filmed on location in South Africa.
The crew, lead by director Rocky Morton, included a team of stuntmen.
FedEx Express, a US$15 billion subsidiary of FedEx Corp., connects
areas that generate 90% of the world's gross domestic product in
24-48 hours with door-to-door, customs-cleared service. The company's
unmatched air route authorities and infrastructure make it the world's
largest express transportation company, providing fast, reliable
and time-definite transportation of more than 3.3 million items
to 211 countries each working day. FedEx employs approximately 144,000
employees and has more than 46,000 drop-off locations, 640 aircraft
and more than 45,000 vehicles in its integrated global network.
