Addresses "Speed, Reliability, Technology and Teamwork" to increase presence in the Japanese market
TOKYO, October 27, 1998—Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, participates in this weekend's Formula 1 race at Suzuka Circuit in Mie as one of the major sponsors of Benetton Formula 1. FedEx has been sponsoring Benetton Formula 1 since the summer in 1997 as part of its global branding program.
"The ingredients required to be a successful Formula 1 team are speed, reliability, innovative technology and outstanding teamwork," said David J. Our alliance with Formula 1 racing and the Benetton team is a perfect fit."
"The sponsorship of the Japan round in two consecutive years clearly represents our commitment to the Japanese market. Formula 1 is a highly effective vehicle to deliver messages to broader audiences, and so we're looking forward to seeing our logo in Suzuka," added Mr. Ross.
After 15 races this year, Benetton Formula 1 ranks fourth in the constructor's championship, with Alexander Wurz ranking seventh and Giancarlo Fisichella eighth in the driver's championship.
