FedEx Invests to Support North East Economic Growth

New Direct Flight to Connect Newcastle to Europe Via Paris Hub: Provides Next-Business-Day Service to and from Europe and Later Pick-Up Times

London - October 29, 2007 - FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced a new flight from Newcastle International Airport direct to the FedEx European hub at Charles De Gaulle airport, Paris.

The flight will depart Newcastle International Airport daily Monday-Thursday at approximately 9.20 p.m. and fly direct to Paris for onward connection to the FedEx Euro One network.  The flight’s departure means customers will also enjoy more convenient late pick-up times for their packages.

“This new flight helps to support the North East of England economy—including Newcastle, Tyne & Wear and Middlesbrough—by providing, for the first time, next-business-day access to and from the economies of Europe,” said Arthur Stanley, vice president, Northern Europe Operations, FedEx Express.

The flight follows last month’s addition of a new FedEx Express Freighter linking the North of England, including Newcastle, to the U.S. with a next-day service via a direct flight from Manchester to the FedEx Super Hub in Memphis, Tennessee.

“This new service is excellent news for customers in North East England, Cumbria and southern Scotland, offering the business community a vital next-day delivery service across Europe and late pick-up times for added convenience,” said Chris Sanders, head of Aviation Development at Newcastle International Airport.  The FedEx UK depots in Middlesbrough and Tyne & Wear mean the infrastructure is already in place to offer an excellent service in the region.”
