FedEx to Show the Newest Automatic Cargo Sorting System

Seoul, July 12, 2001 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, prepared a media tour to display the newest automatic cargo sorting system at the FedEx cargo terminal at Incheon International Airport. FedEx was the first foreign express transportation companies in Korea to open its own sorting system.

Since moving its office from Gimpo to Incheon International Airport in March, FedEx has installed the most up-to-date automatic cargo sorting system - the 6K Sort System. This system can treat 6,000 parcels per hour and is the largest system in Korea and the second-largest in Asia.

FedEx is the first company in Korea to installed an automatic sorting system of this type. Charles Arena, Managing Director of FedEx Korea, said, "Only FedEx has its own flights and warehouses and directly manages all fields including ground management, mechanics, storage and customs clearance. We ensure that FedEx can provide Korean customers with more secure and fast services than other competitors."

With the global express market increasing in importance, this media tour was a good opportunity to see FedEx's world's leading express technology providing an entirely differentiated service to Korean customers.

With annual revenues of $20 billion, FedEx Corp. is the premier global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply-chain management services. The company offers integrated business solutions through a network of subsidiaries operating independently, including FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company; FedEx Ground, North America's second largest provider of small-package ground delivery service; FedEx Freight, a leading provider of regional less-than-truckload freight services; FedEx Custom Critical, the world's largest provider of expedited, time-critical shipments; and FedEx Trade Networks, a provider of customs brokerage, consulting, information technology and trade facilitation solutions.
