Company donates to orphanage in commemoration of Super X anniversary
Penang, September 1, 1999 -- Federal Express Corp. (FedEx), the
world's largest express transportation company, today celebrated
the second anniversary of its Super X service, the only overnight
shipping service from Penang to all of the US by 10.30 am.
In commemoration of the day, FedEx presented a cheque of RM6,000
to St Joseph Orphanage at a customer appreciation dinner in Penang.
According to Mr Luiz Tung, Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia,
"We have been thrilled at the positive feedback we have received
from local and multinational businesses operating from Penang about
our service, which was intended to provide customers with greater
speed and access to global markets".
"We believe, however, that it is not enough for us to serve only
the business community. Community service and giving back to the
local people is also an important part of our business management
concept. We hope that this small contribution will go a long way
to helping to enrich the lives of these children. We are also reviewing
activities where our employees can donate their time and support
to the home" said Mr. Tung.
The customer dinner was graced by the Chief Minister of Penang,
YB Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
