Eddy Chan oversees operations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau

HONG KONG, December 1, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, announced today that Eddy Chan has been appointed Regional Vice President for China and Mid Pacific Region. Chan will be responsible for the company's operations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. In his previous role, Chan had served as Regional Vice President for FedEx China and Taiwan operations.

Based in Hong Kong, Chan will be responsible for overall strategic planning, administration and management of the China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau markets.

"By adding Hong Kong and Macau to his operational responsibility, we are able to further consolidate the management of our four important markets in the Mid Pacific region. Eddy brings a wealth of invaluable experience to his new position. I am confident that his strong leadership will lead FedEx to even greater achievements in the region," said David Cunningham, President of FedEx Asia Pacific.

Chan has extensive experience in the China and Mid Pacific markets. He joined FedEx in Hong Kong in 1985 and was promoted to Managing Director of Sales for Mid Pacific in 1994. Two years later, Chan was named Managing Director of Operations for Taiwan. In 1998 he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of China.

"By bringing these four important markets much closer together, we can move more quickly to respond to opportunities and issues for our customers in the China and Mid Pacific Region. Moving forward, I am excited to continue helping FedEx grow in my new role," said Eddy Chan, Regional Vice President for FedEx's China and Mid Pacific Region.
