Eddy Chan oversees operations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau
HONG KONG, December 1, 1999 - Federal Express Corporation (FedEx),
the world's largest express transportation company, announced today
that Eddy Chan has been appointed Regional Vice President for China
and Mid Pacific Region. Chan will be responsible for the company's
operations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. In his previous
role, Chan had served as Regional Vice President for FedEx China
and Taiwan operations.
Based in Hong Kong, Chan will be responsible for overall strategic
planning, administration and management of the China, Taiwan, Hong
Kong and Macau markets.
"By adding Hong Kong and Macau to his operational responsibility,
we are able to further consolidate the management of our four important
markets in the Mid Pacific region. Eddy brings a wealth of invaluable
experience to his new position. I am confident that his strong leadership
will lead FedEx to even greater achievements in the region," said
David Cunningham, President of FedEx Asia Pacific.
Chan has extensive experience in the China and Mid Pacific markets.
He joined FedEx in Hong Kong in 1985 and was promoted to Managing
Director of Sales for Mid Pacific in 1994. Two years later, Chan
was named Managing Director of Operations for Taiwan. In 1998 he
was appointed Vice President and General Manager of China.
