As the Notice on Logistics Service of Expo 2010 Shanghai China requires, if your inbound shipment falls under the category “Materials needed for the Word Expo”, please handle all inbound matters and customs clearance according to the steps listed below.

 

Step 1: Ensure your import shipments are “Materials Needed for the World Expo”

World Expo materials are materials needed for construction or exhibition at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China. You are required to provide a Confirmation Letter of Entering Materials for Expo 2010 Shanghai, China. The following steps will help you identify if your shipments falls under Materials Needed for the World Expo.

 

  • Materials entering the Expo site temporarily

    - Exhibits*

    - Other materials that temporarily enter the Expo site, such as technical equipment, security equipment, communication equipment, and TV broadcast and news reporting equipment.

 

*  Exhibits include:

  • Goods exhibited at the Expo;
  • Goods used to demonstrate equipment or appliances displayed at the Expo;
  • Materials for building and decorating temporary booths;
  • Film, slides, videotapes, tapes, instructions, advertisements, CDs, displays etc used for publicizing goods exhibited at the Expo;
  • Other materials used for exhibiting.

 

  • Materials that enter the Expo site with tax exemption

    - Donated materials, printed matters, audio-visual products, building materials and equipment, handicrafts and local delicacies for exhibit, foods, exhibition articles**, articles for personal use.

 

**Exhibition articles include:

  • Goods provided during the Expo by the participants and distributed to visitors for use or consumption free of charge (excluding alcoholic drinks, tobacco products and fuel), including goods imported with original packaging or samples of food and beverages which are not packed and distributed, but consumed during the exhibition;
  • Materials which are consumed or damaged during the demonstration of exhibited machines or parts;
  • Goods with low unit price and used for advertising;
  • Low-value goods used for arranging and decorating the temporary exhibit;
  • Relevant publicity products distributed to visitors free of charge during the exhibition; and,
  • Files, forms and other documents used for the exhibition.

 

  • Other materials entering the Expo site

    - Materials other than the above mentioned materials which are approved with a temporary entry and tax exemption.

 

Step 2: Submit a List of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China

 

If your import shipments are materials needed for the World Expo, please submit a “List of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China,” which is signed by the chief representative of the pavilion or the authorized representative to the Logistics Center 20 days before the entry of the exhibit.

 

Step 3: Acquire a Confirmation Letter of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China

 

The Logistics Center will provide a “Confirmation Letter of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China,” after the List of Materials is approved, and will forward the copy of the Confirmation Letter of Materials Entering the Expo to Customs, the Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine and the related logistics service provider.

 

Step 4: Shipment clearance by FedEx or Expo official logistics service provider

 

Please arrange clearance for different categories based on the below instructions. Exhibits and exhibition articles must be cleared by an official logistics service provider at Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site. You may get contact information from Official Logistics Service Providers & Recommended Personal Effects Clearance Service Provider of Expo 2010 Shanghai China and contact official logistics service providers directly for clearance.

  • Temporarily entered materials

    - Exhibits must be cleared by the official logistics service providers at the Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site

    - Other temporarily entered materials can be cleared by FedEx or official logistics service providers at Shanghai Pudong Airport or at the Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site

 

  • Materials that are entered with tax exemption

    - Exhibition articles must be cleared by an official logistics service provider at the Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site

    - Articles for personal use which are shipped by express should be cleared at Shanghai Pudong Airport by FedEx or an official logistics service provider.

    - Donated materials, printed matters and audio-visual products, building materials and equipment, handicrafts and local delicacies for exhibition, and foods can be cleared by FedEx or an official logistics service provider at Shanghai Pudong Airport or at the Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site. 

 

  • Other entering materials

    - Materials entering the Expo site other than abovementioned materials approved with temporary entry and tax exemption shall go through regular import formalities and pay taxes.

    - Other materials entering the Expo site can be cleared by FedEx or an official logistics service provider at Shanghai Pudong Airport or at the Shanghai World Expo Park Monitoring Service Center. 

 

Step 5: Confirm recipient address with FedEx

During the Expo 2010, the Puxi Area will be zoned a control area with 7 square kilometers, bounded by Luban Rd, Zhongshan No.1 Rd. (S.) and Guohuo Rd. The Pudong District control area will be bounded by Yaohua Rd, South Pudong Rd and South Pier Road. Only cars with an Expo passport, taxis and buses exclusively serving the Expo are entitled to enter control areas. Therefore, FedEx vans cannot access to those areas for shipment delivery.

 

If your address falls within the control areas, we suggest you 

  • Call the FedEx customer service hotline to change your destination outside the control areas for delivery (Recommended Option 1).
  • If you are not able to change your destination, you may choose to follow one of the below options

-  Pick up or drop off your shipment directly at one of the below FedEx stations. Please bring with you a company letter of introduction (need to be chopped) and your ID card. For customers who need to pay import duties, please also bring the required import duty fee. (Recommended Option 2)

-  Call the FedEx customer service hotline to arrange a location at the margin of the Expo control area and get the shipment from the courier at that location. Please bring with you a company letter of introduction (need to be chopped) and your ID card. For customers who need to pay import duties, please also bring the required import duty fee. (Recommended Option 3)

-  For customers who need not pay import duties and have a delivery location in the Expo site (within the 5.28 square kilometer Expo area), you may choose to let FedEx deliver your shipment to No. 3588, South Pudong Road. The Expo Bureau will then arrange delivery. Please note that delivery delays may be caused when you choose this option

 

Special Notices

 

  • Please submit a List of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China which is signed by a chief representative of the pavilion or the authorized representative to Logistics Center 20 days before the entry of exhibits.
  • Please get a Confirmation Letter of Materials Entering the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China from the Expo Bureau relevant departments before clearance
  • Please handover materials needed for the World Expo to a custom clearance agent at the appointed area for custom clearance as requested.
  • Exhibits and exhibition articles must be cleared by an official logistics service provider at the Shanghai Customs Supervision and Service Center in EXPO site. You may get contact information from the Official Logistics Service Providers & Personal Effects Clearance Service Provider of Expo 2010 Shanghai China and contact an official logistics service provide directly for clearance. 
  • In order to prevent unnecessary customs clearance delays, please do not to pack exhibitions, goods for exhibition and personal articles together.
  • Please conform to the requirements listed in the China Custom Declaration regulations. In particular, provide complete declaration information for the following 12 goods to prevent unnecessary custom clearance delays, including flags, banners, maps, audio-visual products, educational supplies, printed materials, tourist souvenirs, toys, garments, shoes, hats, electronic products, jewelry and watches. 
  • If your goods fall into materials needed for the World Expo, please make an export declaration with China Customs as the terms of trade of import (declaration category) when the Expo ends.
