Printable Version Regulations on Prohibited Shipping Articles during the World Expo

According to the notice issued by the Shanghai Posting & Shipping Security Supervision Office, the following 18 categories of items will not be allowed to be shipped into the Expo site (covering an area of 5.28 square kilometers) before and during the World Expo 2010 (April15th –October 31st, 2010):
- Guns, ammunition, explosive materials.
- Control apparatus including imitation guns and crossbows, bows and arrows, and daggers.
- Inflammable, explosive or dangerous goods such as fireworks, petrol, and alcohol.
- Highly toxic, corrosive and hazardous chemicals as well as radioactive materials, including but not limited to strong acid and radioisotopes.
- Dangerous substances like harmful biological preparations and infectious pathogens.
- All kinds of drugs including heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and ice..
- Other articles prohibited by Chinese laws and regulations.
- All kinds of beverages with both soft and hard packaging, including but not limited to water, tea, and alcoholic beverages.
- Banners, slogans, billboards and other advertising materials which contain political, racial, religious or commercial messaging or other content that is in violation of Chinese laws and regulations.
- Means of transportation like scooter, skateboard, and roller skates.
- Animals.
- Articles which could cause personal injury like baseballs, long sticks, and sharp objects.
- Balls, rackets, flying disks and similar objects.
- Bulky luggage which is not suitable to be carried into the Expo site and pavilions.
- Flagpoles which unfold into a size exceeding 2m*1m and length over 1m.
- Unauthorized articles which disturb wireless communication signals and cluster-based signals in the Expo site or prevent others from visiting, including but not limited to radios, laser equipment, amplification systems, interphones, and wireless devices.
- Ignition apparatus like lighters and matches.
- Other articles which might cause security concerns or are in violation of Chinese laws and regulations or tickets agreement, such as injectors, medicament, and kites.
According to the above mentioned regulations and related rules of the Shanghai municipal government, all shipments shipped into and out of the Expo site need to be opened and inspected so as to ensure that it does not contain prohibited articles. Please note that shippers who ship goods into and out of the Expo site are required to register their ID information.
