FedEx plays an active role in improving life in the communities we serve. Our team members volunteer hundreds of thousands of hours each year to make our local communities better places to live, work and play.
Our team members support causes in their local communities regularly. Whether it is our employees in Belgium donating clothing and goods for a local homeless shelter or our team members in India teaching school children about safe pedestrian practices, our team members are actively involved and committed to addressing the needs of the communities where they work and live.
Employee volunteerism features prominently in FedEx workplace culture: more than 40 volunteers help shape and drive the company’s environmental strategy across EMEA. In addition, a number of employee donation and family days are organised across the region in support of FedEx signature partnership such as the Red Cross, Orbis and Action for Children in the United Kingdom.
Each fall, FedEx team members in EMEA participate in FedEx Cares Week, a week-long volunteer event that benefits local communities and the United Way. In 2012, team members around the world offered their time to volunteer with local, national and international organizations. The annual FedEx Cares Week volunteer program drew 1,574 participants in Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (EMEA). In total, FedEx Express team members in this region volunteered 3,338 hours across 58 events that saw 2.2 tonnes of food raised for various donations, over 692 blood donations, and thousands of euros raised for various organizations.
