As the clock counted down to kick-off, the tension in the air grew as both sets of fans cheered and sang in an effort to push their teams onto glory.

Both teams gave it their all as this superb season drew to a close, playing out a game packed with skill, passion and endeavour all across the pitch. FedEx delights French Children with Player Escort Opportunity

FedEx worked behind the scenes with the UEFA Foundation for Children to bring the excitement of the competition to life for children living in the host city of the UEFA Europa League Final.

As part of a collaborative CSR program with the UEFA Foundation for Children, FedEx invited local non-profit Sport dans la Ville to nominate the 22 children who would walk the players onto the field at the Stade de Lyon. Ruud Gullit, former professional and FedEx ambassador to its UEFA Europa League sponsorship, attended a behind the scenes stadium tour joined by Jérôme Ovion, VP Hub Ops and Transport, FedEx Express France, to deliver the surprise.

“The news that the children would escort their most admired football stars onto the field at the UEFA Europa League Final was completely unexpected – a possibility many would not even have dreamt of,” said Hélène Blondel-Ehni, Director of Partnerships, Sport dans la Ville.

FedEx has aimed to use football as a platform to deliver good in the communities where we live and work. Our UEL CSR is complimentary to FedEx broader social responsibility program, FedEx Cares, which continues to connect people and possibilities around the world.
