Worldwide Customs & Regulatory Updates
May 11, 2005 Importing Wireless telecommunication goods to Indonesia
Customers shipping Wireless Telecommunication equipments or tools, which includes mobile phones, handhelds etc., to Indonesia should take note of the Indonesian regulatory requirements.
Any types of telecommunication tools/equipments, which are produced, assembled and imported to Indonesia for resale purposes, require a certification from the Ministry of Telecommunication. It is also advised for the consignee of a personal shipment to obtain a certification in order to avoid any possibility of a customs delay.
The request for Certification may be made to the Director General of Telecommunication, Indonesia, by any person, factory/principal or government institution. In the absence of the Certification, the shipment might not be released in the country and may be returned back to its origin.
So, the next time you are sending this type of shipment to your consignee in Indonesia, do make sure the consignee has the Import Certification from the Ministry of Telecommunication.
