IMPORTANT: Change to the FedEx Return-to-Shipper policy for shipments subject to New Zealand Customs Import Clearance

In June 2006, FedEx has reinstated its original Return to Shipper (RTS) policy, changing the number of days from 10 calendar days to 5 business days. This change will affect shipments that are subject to a New Zealand Customs import clearance.

Shipments that are destined to New Zealand must be cleared by the New Zealand regulatory agencies prior to the delivery.

In cases where shipment information or paperwork is missing, FedEx will contact the shipper and/or recipient for the missing documentation prior to lodging the consignment with the relevant agencies.

As a result of the change, the shipper and/or recipient have 5 business days , from the date of arrival, to provide FedEx with the requested details. In accordance with the FedEx RTS policy, shipments which we are unable to lodge with the relevant agencies within this timeframe because of missing information will be returned to the shipper, at the shipper's expense.

To facilitate an efficient clearance process and help reduce possible delays, please remind your shipper to attach all necessary information and documentation to the shipment prior to pick-up.
