Shipping Dry Batteries

The safety of our customers’ shipments is always a priority for FedEx. With this in mind, we would like to remind you of the rules and procedures to follow if you are shipping dry batteries.

FedEx can only accept dry battery shipments if the shipper confirms that the battery poses no risk of fire hazard, is packaged so as to prevent a short-circuit, and meets IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Special Provision A123.

In line with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Special Provision A123, shippers are responsible for ensuring that all such batteries are not connected to any equipment and that the exposed battery terminals are protected to prevent a short-circuit.

In addition, the shipper is required to clearly state “Not Restricted as per IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Special Provision A123” on both the FedEx Air Waybill and the commercial invoice.

We thank you for helping us to ensure the safety of your shipments.
