FedEx Enhances Service to New Zealand

Auckland customers can enjoy later call-in cut-off times and deliveries on a same-day flight to major destinations in Asia

AUCKLAND, December 2, 2003 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, today announced a major service enhancement with later call-in cut off times for Auckland businesses sending urgent shipments to Asia.

The improved service gives Auckland businesses more time to lodge their shipments with FedEx, who provide a guaranteed* next day service from New Zealand’s largest city to major Asian capitols such as Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

FedEx call-in cut off times for next-day deliveries from Auckland to Asia are now extended until 11:00am, which represents a two-hour improvement on the previous pick-up cut off. Shipments are routed via Sydney, Australia, where they enter the FedEx AsiaOne Network on board dedicated FedEx MD-11 all-cargo aircraft.

Call-in cut off times for shipments from South, East and West Auckland to other international destinations have also been improved to a standard 5:00pm daily. North metropolitan Auckland shippers have until 4:30pm each day to call for a pickup.

"FedEx consistently strives to provide the best service for New Zealand customers," said Rhicke Jennings, Managing Director of FedEx in New Zealand. "Customers in Auckland now have more time to arrange for delivery of their shipments on the same day. This service enhancement is another demonstration of FedEx's commitment to providing customers with more flexible and convenient express solutions."

Call-in cut off times have also been extended in Wellington by up to 2.5 hours, to 4:30pm each day. In Christchurch, FedEx customers can now call to have their shipments picked up until 4:00pm.
