FAQs

  1. Is it necessary for me to indicate the Country of Origin on the Commercial Invoice and AWB?
Yes. The Country of Origin must be indicated clearly.

  2. If the sample marking is done on the outside of the garments, how should I declare it on the Commercial Invoice and AWB?
It should be declared as 'MUTILATED SAMPLES HS 9811.00.60'.

  3. If the sample marking is done on the inside of the garments, how should I declare it on the Commercial Invoice and AWB?
It should be declared as 'MARKED SAMPLES - NOT FOR RESALE'.

  4. Can I send textile samples together with quota items under one AWB?
No. As they are under different licensing arrangement, they should be individually packed, invoiced and shipped to the consignee.

  5. Can I ship two marked sample shipments to the same consignee on the same day?
No. Each consignment must not be exported on the same carrier to the same consignee on the same day. You can ship the second shipment on the next day.

  6. How can I stamp items which are dark in color? Can I use correction ink or liquid paper to mark?
Correction ink or liquid paper are not acceptable because both of them are washable. Items in dark colors have to be marked 'SAMPLE' in contrasting color. Use indelible (non-washable/non-erasable) white or lighter colored inks.

  7. Can I use a sticker for Country of Origin & Fabric Content Labels?
No. The labels are to be permanently sewn onto the item.

  8. Can I send sample shipment to the U.S. with Export Notification?
Yes. You can send Marked Samples of up to US$800 in value with Export Notification III (EN3). For Mutilated Samples, you can use Export Notification IV (EN4).

  9. What if I have further questions?
Just call FedEx Customs Service Department at 2730 3333.
