Printable Version Less paperwork for US textile shipments - TEXCO declaration eliminated
In a positive move towards paperless shipping, a textile country of origin declaration (TEXCO) is no longer required by US Customs. At the same time, there is a new requirement to specify details of the actual manufacturer or producer of each textile item, including their full name and address.
If you decide to dispense with the TEXCO, please make sure that this important manufacturer identification is included on the commercial invoice, to ensure the speedy entry and release of your shipment. Certain information to classify the shipment as textiles, currently found on the TEXCO, is still required to ensure entry and release, so you must also switch this to the CI. If you wish to continue using the TEXCO, please make sure that the new manufacturer’s declaration is included on this document.
Please note – if different items in a shipment were produced by multiple manufacturers, the full name and address of each must be provided, including the quantity of each item made by each manufacturer.
For further information, please contact FedEx customer service or visit the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP website). FedEx will, of course, continue to keep you advised of any other important regulatory news or changes affecting your textile shipments to the US.
