Enforcement of new requirements for Wood Packing Materials in Indonesia

Effective September 1, 2009, all Wood Packing Materials (WPM) used for goods imported into Indonesia must be fumigated or heat treated in accordance with regulations provided under the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) No. 15.

Exemptions may apply for pieces of wood that is less than 6mm thick, processed wood such as plywood and wood packing made wholly of processed wood materials including plywood, particle board and oriented strand board. Further details on exemptions under ISPM No.15 can be found at https://www.ippc.int/servlet/BinaryDownloaderServlet/133703_E.pd.pdf?filename=1240490152156_ISPM_15_Revised_2009_E.pdf&refID=133703

If the WPM does not comply with quarantine requirements, goods may be destroyed after 14 days under the shipper’s account. Please therefore ensure your shipments to Indonesia are compliant with the new regulation.
