FedEx Signs Strategic Retail Agreement with Singapore Post Greater Convenience and Access for SMEs and Consumers

SINGAPORE, September 24, 2002 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, will expand its international express delivery services in Singapore through a strategic retail agreement with Singapore Post (SingPost) to offer drop-off services at SingPost branches.

FedEx customers can look forward to greater choice and convenience, as well as discounts on international deliveries. FedEx has begun offering services at an initial 11 branches with plans to extend services to all 63 SingPost branches by next year.

"FedEx is seeing increased demand from small to medium-sized shippers in Singapore," said Mr. Peter Yin, Regional Vice President, South Pacific, FedEx. "We are focussed on enhancing our services to small and medium-sized customers, and our retail agreement with SingPost allows us to locate FedEx drop-off centres in the very communities where our customers live and work."

The SingPost retail agreement adds to the FedEx retail network in Singapore, which includes FedEx Authorised Ship Centres located within eight Mail Boxes Etc. outlets.

Each year about 22 million consumers walk into SingPost branches. This agreement will enable those customers to take advantage of FedEx's time-definite, next day delivery service.

"The first 11 SingPost FedEx retail locations have been identified as high package volume areas of Singapore. They are centrally located in town centres, the Central Business District and shopping complexes, making it easier for consumers to access the reliable services of FedEx," said Mr. Yin.

"With the acceptance of FedEx at our branches, our customers can now look forward to an almost complete choice of delivery service when they visit the post office. Whether it's a humble greeting card or letter, a large parcel, or an urgent courier item to be delivered to any part of the world, through SingPost, there will certainly be a mode of delivery that meets your needs," said Lynette Koh, Director, Sales & Marketing, SingPost.

The FedEx drop-off services at SingPost offers:

  • Discounts: Shippers with a FedEx account will receive a discount of between S$6 to S$10 per shipment when they drop-off at the 11 participating SingPost branches.

  • Easy-Access Shipping Documents: FedEx supplies and shipping documents are available at the SingPost branches so customers only need to bring in their packages.

  • Convenience: SingPost staff can assist with many other services such as providing customers with advice and help in packaging their items and documents. Non-FedEx account holders, small businesses and individual customers who ship on an ad-hoc basis can enjoy greater access by shipping at SingPost branches.
FedEx operates 36 dedicated FedEx flights per week to and from Singapore Changi Airport, which connect to the unparalleled overnight AsiaOne Network and deliver to 211 countries within 24-48 hours.
