Printable Version Four more Eastern European countries linked to improved freight services to US East Coast
We have now added Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to those European countries which benefit from our westbound next-business-day heavyweight freight services to US East Coast destinations. An Airbus 310 freighter, which enables us to fly four times a week from Vienna and Budapest to our European hub at Paris, Charles de Gaulle airport, has replaced our former feeder flights serving Austria and Hungary. From Charles de Gaulles airport, westbound trans-Atlantic freight is transferred onto our new MD-11 direct freighter flight to Newark, N.J. Cargo capacity has been increased, pick-up times have been significantly extended and we can now deliver documents, packages and freight to US East Coast cities by 3 p.m. the following day. In Austria (for which the US is the country’s third most important export destination) companies in regions such as Vienna, Salzburg, Linz and Klagenfurt and many other locations benefit from our service improvements. The greater Budapest region, Debrecen and other principal cities throughout Hungary will also enjoy the same improvements in freight transit times to the US as well as a one day reduction in delivery times to prime European and Asian destinations.
The upgraded FedEx International Priority® service – providing next-business-day delivery of shipments up to 68 kg per piece with reduced transit times and extended pick up times – will serve destinations such as Newark, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Boston and Baltimore. For destinations such as Newark, New York and Philadelphia, the FedEx International Priority® Freight service for heavyweight shipments from Europe will also be available. There is no need to choose any special air waybill or entry field options on fedex.com - your shipment will receive an automatic upgrade ensuring the fastest possible transit time, at no additional cost, when the courier makes the pick-up.
FedEx continually seeks to provide the best possible connections to the global marketplace, and these latest improvements in our service from Europe to the US mark another important milestone in our international strategy.
