Printable Version FedEx Chosen to Transport Rare Giant Pandas from China to France
The “FedEx Panda Express" arrived safely in France on Sunday January 15th, delivering two giant pandas on loan from China to France. Huan Huan and Yuan Zi flew non-stop from the Chengdu Airport in China to Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport on a specially chartered “Panda" Boeing 777F.
Huan Huan, a three-year old female panda, and Yuan Zi, a three-year old male, travelled in custom-built enclosures provided by FedEx. Throughout the long flight the pandas were in the safe hands of seasoned FedEx pilots, Captains Paul Cassel, Tom Jenkins and John Hunt, who all have extensive experience of transporting some of the world’s most precious cargoes.
Following their arrival in Paris the two pandas continued the final leg of their journey in specially decorated FedEx vehicles to deliver them to their new home at Beauval ZooParc. Huan Huan and Yuan Zi are the first giant pandas to arrive in France in 10 years!
This is the second panda flight that FedEx has handled in the last few months, following the safe delivery of another pair to Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland in 2011, and FedEx is very proud to have been entrusted once again with the responsibility of planning and providing highly specialised care and handling capabilities for such valuable and rare animals.
