EU Exports to Norway and Switzerland Require Special Customs Documentation

FedEx customers are reminded that whenever they ship goods from one of the 27 European states* to Norway and Switzerland, specific customs formalities are required at the port of export as well as at the port of entry.

The base documents which must accompany all such shipments comprise the following:

  1. A commercial invoice (whatever the value of the consignment); and
  2. When applicable, either a completed Form EUR 1 or (when the commercial value is below USD 6,000) a declaration on the original invoice to certify the origin of the goods. One of these documents along with the appropriate declaration is a pre-requisite when preferential duty treatment is claimed for imports into Norway or Switzerland.

Failure to provide all necessary documentation for shipments to Norway and Switzerland may result in customs clearance delays and/or additional charges.
