Printable Version Cargo capacity increased and transit times reduced by use of Airbus A310 on Barcelona-Paris route
FedEx has just announced the addition of an Airbus A310 to the existing fleet of aircraft in Spain to provide regular flights between Barcelona and Paris four times per week on a span of five days. This new Airbus A310 replaces two feeder flights previously used for freight services from Spain to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. Besides increasing cargo capacity by up to 25 tons on each flight, the use of the new aircraft enables us to reduce the transit time for heavy shipments requiring International Priority Freight by up to one day from more than 119 postal codes throughout Spain.
Our business in Catalonia has expanded significantly since we added Barcelona to our existing Spanish flight points in 1998 to provide enhanced services for the many businesses based in the region. Catalonia is home to the largest conglomeration of active exporting companies anywhere in Spain, with the number of firms requiring export services in the province having increased fivefold during the last fifteen years.
Besides being a major driving force behind Spanish business growth, Catalonia also serves as an important gateway to Europe and beyond due to its strategic location. The use of our services out of Barcelona continues to expand due to increasing demand from both existing customers and new users of our international freight services.
Typical of many of these dynamic companies is AMES, founded in 1951 and now a world leader in the manufacture of precision parts. It relies on our freight forwarding and logistics facilities in Barcelona to provide a fast, efficient and cost effective first class delivery service for its products, 85% of which are exported into a highly competitive global market place.
Our regular service improvements and fleet upgrades in Spain reflect our continual commitment to the provision of high quality services in support of the growing freight needs of businesses throughout the region.
