Printable Version Olympic Games security procedures demand close attention to export documentation and certificates for all Shanghai outbound express shipments
In the run up to the Olympic Games the authorities in Shanghai are reinforcing security and documentation procedures for some outbound express shipments. In order to avoid any delays and problems it is crucial that companies organising export consignments from Shanghai should pay particular attention to the preparation and presentation of all required shipping documentation.
The reinforced procedures apply particularly (but are not solely restricted) to shipments containing:
(a) all equipment and packages containing lithium batteries;
(b) all types of chemical products.
All shipments involving any of the above items must be accompanied by a Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods (Test Report) issued by the Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Testing Centre (Shanghai TECH Chemical Industry Testing Centre Ltd).
A copy of the Test Report and an original copy of a stamped Letter of Liability (bearing both an original stamp from the manufacturer and an original stamp from the shipper) must be attached to the shipment. Please note that non-original copies of the Letter of Liability are not acceptable to the authorities.
If a stamped Letter of Liability cannot be provided then the original Test report must be provided.
FedEx customers are once again urged to ensure that companies arranging air freight exports from Shanghai should carefully check all product specifications and related documentation requirements in order to ensure that their shipments are processed quickly and are not subject to delay.
