Strict Customs Control on Export Clearance
With the enforcement of the Strategic Trade Act (STA), Malaysia Customs is implementing strict controls on shipments which require export declaration starting January 1, 2012. FedEx has been working closely with customs to ensure smoother clearance for your export shipments.
When preparing shipping documents for customs declaration, please note the following:
- An air waybill and commercial invoice are required.
- If you are sending a shipment that contain strategic items*, please ensure that you
i. indicate the export permit number on the description column on the air waybill
and commercial invoice;
ii. place an STA label with the export permit number on the master package. If
you do not have an STA label, please write STA with a red marker pen.
iii. inform our Customer Service Representative that you are sending an STA
shipment.
iv. email/fax the air waybill and commercial invoice to our Customer Service
Representative. - If you are sending a shipment for C2 declaration, please ensure that you
i. identify and mark the shipment type clearly on the air waybill;
ii. place the relevant C2 label on the package and the commercial invoice.
* Note: Further details about sending strategic items can be found on the official website of MITI at www.miti.gov.my
Shipments with incomplete documentation may be held by customs and delayed. Please help us to ensure on-time delivery of your shipments by complying with the above requirements.
