Provision of Export Permit Number for any Strategic Shipment being governed under the Strategic Trade Act (STA)
Effective July 1, 2011, customers who send any strategic shipment being governed under the Strategic Trade Act (STA) are required to indicate the export permit number on the necessary documents. Strategic shipments without the export permit number will not be accepted as STA shipments.
Please take note of the following steps when you send a strategic shipment:-
- Indicate the export permit number on the description column on the air waybill and commercial invoice. Please be reminded to use your own company letterhead for the commercial invoice. FedEx-generated commercial invoice is not accepted by Customs.
- Place the STA label with the export permit number on the shipment
If you do not have a valid permit number, please visit the official website of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) at www.miti.gov.my to register as a shipper of strategic items and apply for the export permit. Please click on <STA 2010> to access the Online Registration Process Flow and view the list of strategic items ranging from Category 0 to 9.
For further enquiries and to obtain the STA labels, please contact our Customer Service Team at 1800 88 6363.
