FedEx launches Customs Clearance Hotline
Real-time information available for shipments undergoing customs clearance

Bangkok, 24 March 2005 -- FedEx Express (FedEx) has introduced a Customs Clearance Hotline that allows customers to quickly access information on incoming shipments. The service was established to meet the demand for information on shipments that are held for clearance by customs.

“In a recent customer survey, issues regarding clearance of shipments through customs were one of the most pressing concerns for express customers. By offering detailed information and support, FedEx is directly addressing our customers need for real-time information.” said Clifton Chua, Managing Director for FedEx Thailand, Philippines and Indochina

“By connecting customers directly with trained service agents – all of whom have specialist knowledge of customer clearance processes – they are able to immediately query the status of their shipment, query clearance turnaround time, and obtain additional information including paperwork requirements, duty or taxation calculations” said Mr. Chua.

Inaugurated in January 2005, FedEx customs clearance hotline service is available for all shipments entering Thailand, with additional staff hired to handle queries. Customers can contact the service on 02 979 0444, and speak directly to a specialized agent or call the FedEx customer service hotline on 1782.

“For businesses that rely on express delivery, real time information is critical to their success, and I believe this service complements the commitment to improvements made by the Thai Government and in improving clearance time.” added Mr. Chua.
