FedEx celebrates the opening of new school in Buriram following its US$10,000 donation to Amcham’s Adopt-a-School Program

Bangkok, December 13, 2007: Mr. David Carden, Managing Director, FedEx Express, Thailand and Indochina, together with a group of FedEx employees and representatives of The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), recently celebrated the opening of the Baan Nong Tae Pattana School in Buriram.

FedEx and AMCHAM earlier this year jointly contributed funds of nearly one million baht for the construction of the elementary school with nearly 100 year primary school students. The new building is now complete and fully functional.

FedEx employees also led a company-wide donation drive in advance of this visit and delivered books, learning tools and sporting goods to the students at the school.

At the new school building’s recent opening, Mr Carden said, “We are delighted to see and experience first hand the tangible results of our contribution to this deserving school in Buriram. This effort reflects FedEx’s broad-based support for the expansion of educational services and infrastructure to rural communities throughout Thailand. We are delighted to play a constructive role in creating more educational, career-oriented opportunities for these capable children.”
