Worldwide Customs and Regulatory Updates
Detailed DRAM Information Ensures Smooth Customs Clearance
The U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration recently revoked the countervailing duty order on dynamic random access memory semiconductors (DRAMs) from Korea. As a result, shippers are no longer required to provide a DRAM Certificate when shipping integrated circuits (ICs) or printed circuit boards (PCBs).
However, to ensure the appropriate classification by the authorities and to prevent your shipment being caged by U.S. customs and a delay in delivery to your customer, you should provide a detailed description when sending ICs and/or PCBs (e.g., “non-impregnated bare PCB of ceramic base”). This should be written in the “Description of Goods” section of the commercial invoice.
You may want to use IC checklist or PCB checklist to help you develop a full description.
