FedEx Strengthens Commitment to Malaysia with Opening of Express Center, Johor

Johor Baharu, October 3, 2003 - FedEx Express (FedEx), the world's largest express transportation company, today celebrated the launch of its new FedEx Center, Johor, which will serve as an export link to Singapore, giving customers in southern Malaysia increased access to the FedEx AsiaOne Network with next day delivery to 19 countries in Asia.

The event was officiated by YB Dato' Chan Kong Choy, Minister for Transport, and attended by more than 150 guests including representatives of regulatory bodies, and local government members.

Speaking at the ceremony, Peter Yin, regional Vice President FedEx South Pacific said that "the FedEx presence in Malaysia for over ten years has seen a strong commitment from the company to the Nation, with around 430 employees and a network of dedicated FedEx vehicles and aircraft servicing businesses of all sizes."

"The FedEx Express Centre, Johor confirms our confidence in Malaysia, and clearly demonstrates our commitment to our customers with an extension of the cut off for the pickup of goods and parcels for transport on the FedEx AsiaOne Network, which guarantees delivery to 19 Asian countries by the next day," said Mr. Yin

"FedEx's superior global air express network helps to bring the world to Malaysia, and to provide access for Malaysian Businesses to the world with 260 intra-Asia flights per week on the FedEx aircraft network. "The new FedEx Express Centre in Johor will play a pivotal role in assisting the manufacturing and export industry in Asia, which is demanding faster and more reliable business solutions that will help companies enhance their efficiency," said Mr. Yin

Policies that are grounded in the development of air transport as an important foreign exchange earner in the services sector, the development of a comprehensive network of airports, and the adoption of a liberal, growth-orientated aviatation policy are the foundation to the support FedEx has experienced in Malaysia," continued Mr. Yin
