What do I need to know about FedEx Freight zone-based rates, and how will customers benefit?

Effective Jan. 4, 2016, FedEx Freight introduced zone-based rates along with a zone locator tool, allowing customers to create a customized zone locator and quickly find a rate for their shipment. This change reduces some of the complexity of general less-than-truckload (LTL) pricing. Along with the online access to the zone locator tool, customers also have access to the additional pickup and delivery charge tier lists, and zone-based rates booklets. The FedEx Freight zone-based rates are referred to as FXF PZONE (for FedEx Freight® Priority service) and FXF EZONE (for FedEx Freight® Economy service).

Which customers are placed on FedEx Freight zone-based rates?

All new customer accounts are placed on the FedEx Freight zone-based rates. All existing customer accounts (created before Jan. 4, 2016) will not automatically move to FedEx Freight zone-based rates, but they can request to be moved by contacting their FedEx account executive or calling the FedEx Freight Customer Service team at 1.866.393.4585.

How can a customer generate a rate quote for the different rates?

Are customers placed on FedEx Freight zone-based rates still subject to the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff?

Yes. FedEx Freight zone-based rates will be subject to the FXF 100 Series Rules Tariff.

Are there any changes to how a customer using FedEx Freight zone-based rates completes the FedEx Freight Bill of Lading (BOL) or other FedEx Freight forms?

No, there are no changes to how customers fill out and complete the FedEx Freight BOL or other forms.

Are FedEx Freight account-specific rate quotes affected by FedEx Freight zone-based rates?

No. All channels where customers get account-specific rate quotes today will continue to provide account-specific rate quotes.

Where can I find the current FedEx Freight 100 Series Rules Tariff that includes the FedEx zone-based rates?
