DALLAS and LAS VEGAS — December 3, 2003 — Event planners face numerous challenges in their profession from negotiating contracts to juggling appointments and working long hours to meeting deadlines. To get it all done, they need the right business partners.
For years, event planners have turned to Kinko's, Inc. to be more efficient and effective in their jobs. Kinko's celebrates the tenacity of these ultimate multi-taskers with its Kinko's "Rest Easy Contest." Launched in September, the Kinko's "Rest Easy Contest" invited event planners to share their stories about how Kinko's helped them pull off the perfect event. Entries were ranked by a panel of judges based upon originality, relevance to theme and quality of essay.
Gabrielle Bosco of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare in Bethesda, Md., won the contest's grand prize — the ultimate luxury bed — with her tale of how Kinko's helped her pull off the perfect meeting. In September 2003, Bosco was responsible for planning and managing a meeting for 65 people at a resort in Tampa, Fla. From her office in Washington, D.C., Bosco made arrangements to have the event materials, which included meeting binders and signage, shipped to the resort.
Unfortunately, the materials never left the shipper's warehouse in Virginia due to the torrential arrival of Hurricane Isabel. Just two days before the event, Bosco lacked the materials she needed for the meeting, and thus, she turned to Kinko's for help. Kinko's recreated the missing meeting binders and signage just in time for Bosco's meeting.
"The meeting was back on, books and all," said Bosco. "No one knew what had happened, and I discovered that, with the help of Kinko's, not even a hurricane could keep me from running a successful meeting."
"Gabrielle Bosco's story is a great example of the many instances where event planners rely on Kinko's across the country for support in quality production of mission critical materials," said Jennifer Goodwyn, vice president of sales for Kinko's. "From pre-event materials production to providing access to on-site business services, Kinko's delivers document solutions, done right, any time, anywhere - regardless of the scale of the event."
