( BW)(TN-FEDEX-SUPPLY-CHAIN)(FDX) FedEx Supply Chain Services to
Establish Headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia
Business Editors
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2000--FedEx Logistics
Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, FedEx Supply Chain Services, a
leading third party provider of integrated supply chain solutions,
will establish a headquarters facility in Chantilly, Va. The new
location will predominantly house the subsidiary's officers and their
direct staff. The company will continue to operate its administration
center in Hudson, Ohio, and parent company FedEx Logistics will
maintain its current headquarters in Memphis.
FedEx Supply Chain Services chose Chantilly for its global
headquarters as the result of a study conducted by an independent
third party that assessed several cities on the population of
technology companies, universities and continuing education
institutions, international presence and global air access. "As a
leading provider of global logistics services, we focussed on placing
our headquarters close to an international city and in an area where
information technology is in every conversation," remarked Gary
Gilbert, president and CEO of FedEx Supply Chain Services. "We feel
that establishing a new headquarters in Northern Virginia will serve
us well in expanding our services on a global basis."
In addition to operations in North America and Europe, FedEx
Supply Chain Services is currently expanding its services into Asia,
Latin America and the Caribbean.
The new headquarters facility is scheduled to open in
October 2000.
