Improvement Warehouse For Outstanding Service; Operating Units Also
Pick Up More Customer Awards
Business Editors
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 2002--FedEx Freight has
received double recognition from Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse for
its excellent service to the retailer of home improvement products and
equipment. FedEx Freight's two operating units were awarded Gold and
Silver Awards for 2001. FedEx Freight is the leader in regional
less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services and a subsidiary of FedEx
Corp. (NYSE:FDX).
Lowe's presents service awards annually to those carriers that
meet or exceed its goals in three categories:
| | -- | On-time Performance
| | -- | Gap Compliance, the measure of deliveries to a store
within 24 hours after the shipment arrives at the
carrier's service center
| | -- | Delivery Before Exception, which represents the number of
deliveries without exception.
|
Lowe's Carrier Gold Award was presented to FedEx Freight West,
under its former name Viking Freight. In 2000 -- the first year the
two started working together -- the carrier took home the Silver
Award.
"FedEx Freight West's persistence, dedication and service
excellence support the delivery needs of our customers," said Rob
Long, LTL services manager for Lowe's. "FedEx Freight West is one of
the cornerstone carriers in our transportation program."
Lowe's Silver Team Award went to FedEx Freight East, which has
been working with the retailer since 1994 when it was known as
American Freightways. During that time, FedEx Freight East garnered
multiple awards from Lowe's. Past honors include the Bronze Carrier,
Outstanding Claims Prevention and Outstanding Service Awards. FedEx
Freight East currently services more than 750 Lowe's stores and six
regional distribution centers.
"Lowe's is proud of the relationship we have developed with FedEx
Freight East," said Long. "Their consistent delivery performance,
ability to customize information systems to our needs and responsive
management team have molded into a relationship that complements our
evolving distribution strategy."
